Ford CRUSHES IT Per Usual

July 21, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Ford dominated this year’s AutoPacific 2015 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. The awards

recognize huge achievement in the car industry as they take into account over fifty

aspects of consumer satisfaction. These aspects rae from technical manufacturing

criteria to safety, style and comfort. Ford thoroughly impressed both owners and judges,

landing them two incredibly important wins.

First, the Ford F-Series Super Duty, with best-in-class horsepower and standard torque,

was awarded the Vehicle Satisfaction Award for heavy-duty pick-ups.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, the Ford F-150 took the award for light-duty pick-ups

along with the second highest owner score ever recorded and the highest rating EVER for

a truck!

Whether you’ve owned a Ford a not, the results of the AutoPacific 2015 Vehicle

Satisfaction Awards speak for themselves: Ford makes the best trucks!

The “Batcave” of the Ford GT

July 21, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

The upcoming Ford GT that is set to hit the market in 2016 has been labeled a “supercar,” not only because it has the most powerful EcoBoost engine that Ford has ever produced, but also because even with its design paying tribute to the late Daytona racing models, it has the same sophistication and edge that is reminiscent of the Bat Mobile seen in Batman’s secret cave.

And while we’re on the subject of secret caves, the Ford GT has got its own. While its true that the “cave” may not have all the glitz and glamour of Batman’s, its definitely something to write home about! The “secret underground lab” that the GT was made in, has cool set-ups like foam-renderings and other technology. Check it out in the videos below!

FORD LOGOS: A History

July 9, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

61B242F4-1372-1646-96EE-C95928BA658F

1903-1909
This script lettering was first used on company correspondence, before being put on the first production car, the Model A. It was designed by C. Harold Will. The art nouveau border that was included on the logo was very fashionable at the time.

1909-1912
The script that was written in this elongated form was known as the “script with wings”. It was used up until 1912, when the current font that we can see today on Ford vehicles was born.

1912
This writing appears to be influenced by Henry Ford’s own signature.

1912-1927
The oval that was added was first used in 1907 by British agents Perry, Thornton, and Schreiber-predecessors of the original Ford Motor Company Limited of Great Britain. This oval presented Ford as being the “hallmark for reliability and economy”.

1927-2003
From 1927 onward, the use of this logo was deemphasized and then dropped all together. Overtime the oval that had encircled the Ford logo in times past got slimmer and more refined. Other than the standard blue color that had always been used, alternate colors of black and white were also tested out around 1961.

2003-present
Today the Ford logo still has that same iconic blue oval, but has been made to look more modernized with a silver lining around its font and a white hue added to the lettering. It is a very simple, yet elegant design that was created on the 100th Anniversary of Ford Motor Company. The “Centennial Blue Oval” is widely considered as one of the most successful car logos in the world.

Project India: Ford Makes The World Better

June 26, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Ford Motor Company has done something amazing that everyone should be inspired by. Through their Sustainable Urban Mobility Uncompromised Rural Reach (SUMURR) program, they were able to help 1,600 people in the Tamil Nadu region of India. And all it took was one vehicle and a collaboration between them and their partners.

How did they do it?
In the rural areas of India, there are many pregnant women who don’t have access to a viable form of transportation that would allow them to be transported to a medical facility after giving birth. This disconnect with prenatal healthcare has resulted in the deaths of either the mother or the baby in 50% of the pregnancies. After the mother has a baby, nurses from surrounding clinics would have to travel on scooters or bikes over rocky terrain to get to them. From there, they would send data to another facility, but they would have no way of really connecting the patients to that information.

Ford was able to solve that problem by providing health care teams with laptops and cellphones that could connect them with doctors and medical records. They also provided them with a Ford Endeavor so that nurses could effectively reach and transport patients to quality healthcare provisions . This took place over a nine-month pilot program that successfully lead to the births of 42 children in 28 villages. In a place where the infant mortality rate is high and pregnant women are lucky if they receive any form of healthcare, this was certainly a step in the right direction. Now Ford is currently looking for ways they can help other parts of India go further.

5 Signs You Need an F-150

June 5, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

You’re in denial. Don’t deny it, knowing is half the battle. Lamarque Ford is here to help you come to grips with the fact that you have a problem, and its not just running out of paper towels at a crawfish boil. If you find yourself in the following situations on more than one occasion, the answer is clear: YOU NEED AN F-150.

1889AF44-623B-874A-9CD1-49AD900F93E8

1. When you try and FAIL to maneuver your truck through a space the size of a shoe box. See 360-Degree Camera w/Split View Display.

2. You call it quits on the project you’re working on as soon as you see the sun start to set because your current pickup truck has the light source of a firefly. See LED Lighting.

3. On the day you’re feeling macho, your decision to shout “YOLO” and gun it on the freeway comes back to haunt you as you fail to slow down near an upcoming curve. See Curve Control.

4. It takes you fifteen minutes to do a simple parallel park since your truck is so high off the ground that you can’t see that tiny hybrid car parked right behind you. See Active Park Assist.

5. When you’re constantly at risk of being slapped with a DUI because law enforcement doesn’t know if you’re drunk or if you just can’t stay in your own lane. See Lane-Keeping System.

DRIVING MISS LAZY: How Safe Is Too Safe?

May 28, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

FUEL FOR THOUGHT:

2014-mercedes-benz-self-driving-technology-demo

With technological advances in automotive features ranging from progressive to excessive, vehicular transport now seems to have a “snooze & cruise” attitude attached to it.

Automakers pack their cars with more and more semi autonomous safety technology like adaptive cruise control and automatic braking, so driving a car becomes easier and easier. We are, essentially, given less to pay attention to while we’re taught that our cars are watching out for us.

The level of technology we’re seeing is impressive. Adaptive cruise control ensures your car slows with traffic. Lane departure warning technology tells you when you’ve strayed over the line. Some cars will tell you when you’re nodding off, while others will actually stop your car if a pedestrian steps out into traffic.

These systems, in practice if not by design, allow drivers to pay less attention to the road ahead. The impact on performance and safety depends upon how big a workload drivers have. In stressful situations where drivers are easily overwhelmed, such as stop-and-go traffic or searching for an address in an unfamiliar neighborhood, electronic nannies can be a big help to a driver whose cognitive load is maxed out.

But put that same driver on an arrow-straight road in Kansas in the dead of the night and it could be a problem. The driver isn’t paying attention and may not see trouble coming until it’s too late.

Hit The Road, Jack! | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans, LA

May 22, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

road trip

Don’t you just LOVE hearing all about everyone else’s Memorial Day plans?
We have that in common.
Not.

There’s nothing more depressing and even stressful than not having plans over a long weekend, especially when everyone else has their act together.

It’s cool, we’ve got the solution. ROAD TRIP.
Pack an ice chest, make a playlist, throw some sunscreen, sandals and a bathing suit in a tote, and GO.
JUST DRIVE (in a Lamarque Ford car or truck…)!

Take an adventure!
Remember those times when you actually HAD a planned destination and as you passed billboards for random roadside attractions, would OOoooOO and AAhhh over how you just wish you had the time to stop? GOOD NEWS, THE TIME IS NOW.

Here’s a list of the types of attractions and oddities to consider checking out on your Expedition (which we are selling, notice how we slipped that in there):

Boat Charters
Casinos (the seedier the better)
Golf Courses
Trails to hike
Museums
Lakes and Swimming Holes
Hole-In-The-Wall Restaurants
County Fairs or Amusement Parks
Quaint B&B’s and/or Bates Motel-esque 1-nighters. There’s something thrilling and sickening about braving a night in a sinister dwelling with “that special someone.”

HAPPY TRAILS!!

Saints Football

December 4, 2013 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

If you’re a Saints Fan, you know there are good years to be a fan and there are bad years. Nonetheless, if you’re a Saints fan- you’re a fan for life! We have our ups and downs, and luckily this year is an up.

When it’s a good year, we try to forget about the bad ones. So, in honor of the season where we have continuously achieved greatness, here are some of our favorite Saints moments:

  1. Tom Dempsey’s record breaking field goal—On Nov., 8th 1970 when Dempsey kicked the 63-yard field goal he set a record in Tulane Stadium that has yet to be broken over 40 years later.
  2. The New Orleans Superdome opened—In 1975, the Saints moved to the New Orleans Superdome, and although it wasn’t the best of times, it was the beginning of a new era.
  3. The addition of Drew Brees—In 2006 when Drew Brees joined the team, he kick-started the city and made it a great time to be a Saints fan. He quickly became the face of the team and a pillar of the New Orleans community.
  4. Winning Super Bowl XLIV—In 2009, the Saints had their best season yet with a record of 13-3. They went on to win the Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts—the first time for both seed one teams to go to the Super Bowl in 16 years.
  5. This 2013 season—there’s no time like the present and right now the Saints have an impressive winning record. Let’s just say there could be another Super Bowl in our future.

Let’s Geaux Saints!
