The F-150 Raptor: America’s Strongest Truck

November 30, 2017 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Ford is well known for producing the strongest trucks. As the nation’s top-selling vehicle and the top scorer in U.S News’ ranking of full-size pickups, the F-150 Raptor has the top horsepower rating. As we approach 2018, it’s time to take a closer look at the 2018 model. While the regular F-150 received significant updates for 2018, the Raptor is mostly the same.

The 2018 model has a revised tailgate design and restyled taillights, as well as three new colors: Lead Foot, Guard, and Race Red. A new 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo is now optional instead of the Sony audio system that was available on 2017 models. If you are in the market for this powerful truck, take a look at the specs that make it the winner it is:

  • 4 doors
  • 5 passengers
  • four-wheel drive
  • 15/18 mpg city/hwy
  • 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 engine
  • 450 hp
  • 510 lb-ft
  • 10-speed automatic transmission

For the offroader, there has never been a better truck. The Raptor uses the best of several traction technologies. Depending on the conditions, it will automatically select from two-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and locked in four-wheel drive known as “Baja mode.” In the terrain management system, you could simply select weather mode, and the Raptor configures itself to the slippery conditions that inclement weather creates. When the snow or mud gets deep, its 11.5 inches of ground clearance that can help you get through. That is about 2 inches better than other F-150 4x4s and more than 6 inches greater than most cars.

Not only is this truck suited for all terrains, but it also goes fast. The nearly 3-ton Raptor leaped to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds and completed a quarter mile in 14.1 seconds which is almost as fast as a Mustang GT. Despite these race like credentials, the F-150 Raptor is still a truck and can haul cargo. Both the SuperCab and SuperCrew models a 5.5-foot long beds with 52.8 cubic feet of cargo room. The SuperCab can carry 1,000 pounds of cargo and tow up to 6,000 pounds when properly equipped. The crew cab has a 1,200 pound-rating and can tow up to 8,000 pounds.

The Raptor is also a beloved family vehicle and is offered in two cab configurations that can seat five, but the crew cab provides much more room for the rear seat passengers and rear doors hinged at the front for easier access. Just like with most vehicles, the 2018 Raptor includes a panel video display that can provide a plethora of information from your fuel economy to off-road configuration and performance. The Ford Raptors truly are one of the strongest trucks in the US if not the strongest trucks, and with all the capabilities: it makes it hard to ignore. Greatly Anticipating the New Ford Bronco

November 16, 2017 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

With the new Ford GT and SVT Raptor, Ford lovers around the world are rejoicing, but the most exciting announcement for off-roaders is the welcoming of the new Ford Bronco. A renegotiated contract between Ford and the United Auto Workers moved Focus and C-Max production out of their current plans and brought the Ranger and Bronco back in. After years of teasers, Ford’s president of the Americas Joe Hinrichs and Vice President of Global Development officially confirmed at the 2017 North American International Auto Show that the Bronco is officially coming back. The midsize Ranger pickup has been out of the company’s American lineup since 2012, and the Bronco has been missed since it was discontinued in 1996. This was because of the SUV demand going significantly down because of gas prices.

The new Ford Bronco will be like the Ford Everest because it shares its frames and will be an off-roader, but thankfully, Ford understands the new Bronco needs to live up to its name. Unlike old models, it will have four doors, and Ford is looking to position the Bronco against the Jeep Wrangler unlimited. This means that the SUB will be able to tackle harsh terrain right out of the showroom. Traditionally the Ford Bronco will be ready to go topless and will have an air roof with up to six removable panels that can be stored in the truck.

The new Ford Bronco won’t have a V8 like the F-150 but will have a V6 that produces 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet. The Ford Bronco will inevitably be made in America which is an essential point for Ford lovers and will be a four-wheel drive to live up to its rugged reputation while successfully differentiating itself from Ford’s current SUV lineup. The Bronco is well known for its effortless ability to transition between daily-driver and unstoppable off-roader.

Ford trucks are the most sought-out trucks in America for a good reason. They are reliable, durable and live up to their age-old slogan: Built Ford Tough. If you are looking for a used or new Ford Truck, come to Lamarque Ford: your Ford destination in the Greater Louisiana area.
