John Cena Displays 2006 Ford GT

June 9, 2017 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

John Cena has made his career as one of the most popular WWE wrestlers as well as an action film star and occasional rapper, but his latest breakout could be in the motor business. In the middle of making his name in wrestling or movies, he also moonlights as a host on an online show titled Auto Geek which highlights some of his more notable cars. In the latest video, John Cena highlights his Ford GT, an American muscle vehicle he has owned since 2006. The Ford GT is a historically significant vehicle. The GT40, most notably, is a consecutive four-time winner of the 24 Hours of LeMans.

Throughout the 4:39 video, John Cena displays his pristine and powerful Ford GT which includes many of the features commonly found in the 2006 model such as forged alloy wheels, red brake calipers, and the McIntosh Sound System. However, the vehicle in the video avoids the traditional racing stripes of the model to create a less distinct appearance as it drives, something Cena prefers in his model. Though the car only boasts 1,250 miles after more than ten years, the power of the Ford GT is undeniable with a 5.4-liter V8 able to roll out 550 hp. The result creates a car able to go from zero to sixty in approximately 3.3 seconds, something John Cena calls “powerful” and uniquely “American.”

John Cena has always shown off his love of American cars which includes a remarkable classic assortment, with some vehicles dating back to 1966. However, he’s also a fan of mixing his tastes with more than a few modern additions. Even in this latest video, Cena hints that he may be considering purchasing the 2017 Ford GT to buffer his collection. Perhaps we can hope to see the car and all its impressive features in the latest episode of Auto Geek. If you are looking into purchasing Ford vehicle, take a look at our inventory at Lamarque Ford!

Ford Makes a Showing at Daytona

February 1, 2016 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Billy Johnson and Scott Maxwell drove the Ford Shelby GT350R-C to its first win at Daytona International Speedway on Friday in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race.

Johnson hunted the lead, trading spots for p1 several times in the closing stint. It’s the duo’s second win and third podium in the Shelby GT350R-C since the car debuted at Watkins Glen in 2015. They first won at Lime Rock last season. It was the Shelby GT350R-C’s third overall win in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.

After primary challenger Matt Plumb suffered a fuel pump failure in his Porsche, the battle was between two Shelbys – Johnson in the No. 15 Multimatic entry, and Pierre Kleinubing in the brand new No. 76 AERO Advanced Paint Technology/Children’s Tumor Foundation Shelby GT350R-C fielded by Compass360 Racing, the first customer team for the Shelby GT350R-C.

Kleinubing and co-driver Paul Holton finished p2 in their first race together in the Shelby GT350R-C.

“It was great to see two Ford Performance Shelby GT350R-Cs on the podium after all the hard work everyone’s done getting the car to where it’s at,” Johnson said. “It’s the first time the car’s competed at Daytona and we’re really happy to be in victory lane with the car and a 1-2 finish for the GT350R-C. Scott did a fantastic job on the first stint and I just can’t thank him and the team enough for all the hard work and good job they do.”

Maxwell qualified the No. 15 Multimatic entry p3, while Holton put the No. 76 AERO Advanced Paint Technology Shelby p4 on the grid.

There were also 2 Ford GTs in the competition mix, but their showings were a bit less successful.

Both Ford GTs suffered gearbox issues that quickly set them too far behind to catch up. The news was better for the two-car EcoBoost-powered Prototype team until the No. 02 Target/Claritin Riley was sidelined twice with brake problems in the overnight hours.

The “Batcave” of the Ford GT

July 21, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

The upcoming Ford GT that is set to hit the market in 2016 has been labeled a “supercar,” not only because it has the most powerful EcoBoost engine that Ford has ever produced, but also because even with its design paying tribute to the late Daytona racing models, it has the same sophistication and edge that is reminiscent of the Bat Mobile seen in Batman’s secret cave.

And while we’re on the subject of secret caves, the Ford GT has got its own. While its true that the “cave” may not have all the glitz and glamour of Batman’s, its definitely something to write home about! The “secret underground lab” that the GT was made in, has cool set-ups like foam-renderings and other technology. Check it out in the videos below!

Ford Earns Top Honors In The Chicago Auto Show – Lamarque Ford

February 25, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

In the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, the only major show that polls its attendees, Ford has taken the top spots across different segments.

Out of the show’s five categories, Ford earn the top spot in three of them: best all-new production vehicle, car voters most likely want in their driveway, and best exhibit. Here are the winners:

Ford GT

Ford GT won Best All-New Production Vehicle category, defeating the new Acura NSX. The 2017 Ford GT is a 600HP super car powered by Ford’s latest EcoBoost technology. As odd as it sounds, the GT is powered by a 3.5-liter V6, delivering unprecedented power from a small engine.

Ford GT

Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang

Shelby took home the Most Likely To Have In Your Driveway award, but it wasn’t easy. The Shelby faced serious competition, as it beat Bugatti Veyron and other super cars. Ford Shelby GT350 is a modified Mustang. It includes an enhanced powertrain to deliver over 500 HP, upgraded chassis and suspension and the best braking package.

Best Exhibit

Ford also won the Best Exhibit award, where the brand showcased its new vehicles along with Hank the Robot and an F-150 track for kids.

Ford continues to deliver cutting edge technology and to develop the world’s most popular nameplates.

Ford Introduces Ford GT | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

January 12, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Yesterday Ford unveiled Ford GT, a showcase of their latest technology in a powerful super-car that redefines design and performance. The company is using its most advanced engine and materials as it hopes this strategy will pave the way for new improvements in overall efficiency. In front of an unsuspecting crowd at the North American International Auto Show, Ford announced its renewed commitment to performance models. Let’s see what the new Ford GT has to offer.

Ford GT supercar north american auto show lamarque ford

The new car, Ford GT, relies on the most powerful EcoBoost engine ever: a 600 horsepower turbo-charged V6. EcoBoost engines are the heart of  Ford’s performance line-up, and it already powers the new Mustang, F-150 Raptor, Focus ST and Fiesta ST. The new engine, however, features a twin-turbocharged 3.5 liter displacement and a wide powerband for improved torque and raw power. Like all EcoBoost models, Ford GT excels in efficiency, as it was designed with endurance-racing in mind. To top things off, Ford GT is coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle transmission for instant shifting.

The GT was designed from top to bottom to reduce drag and improve downforce and stability. Breakthrough research in airflow management was crucial for the efficient design. The rear spoiler is synchronized to driver input and speed, and it deploys and adjusts its height to improve driving conditions. Ford is also using what the company calls “advanced lightweight composites,” which are extra durable light materials that will serve for future models. A combination of carbon fiber and aluminum are used in the GT’s frame and body.

Ford GT will serve as the technology and performance showcase for the company, and it will be at the center of Ford’s performance strategy. The super-car has already been selected to be featured in the cover of Forza Motorsport 6, the popular racing video game. Ford GT is scheduled to hit dealerships in 2016 and production will begin later this year.

Remember Ford already offers a complete performance line up, including the all-new 2015 Mustang and F-150 Raptor. Check out our inventory and stop by the dealership to test drive one today.

Ford Concept Cars Go On Sale | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

November 4, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Concept cars are part of every manufacturer’s design process, and they often have sharper and more daring looks than production vehicles. This week a few Ford concept cars from Sam Pack’s collection are going on sale, and they are truly amazing. Let’s not forget Ford has introduced some of the most breathtaking designs for both the Lincoln and Ford nameplates in the last decade, and these concepts show just that. Let’s take a look at these Ford concept cars, which include some classic models as well.

2006 Ford GT

RM Auctions/Sam Pack Collection

Drawing inspiration from the GT40 racing cars of the 60’s, Ford engineers and designers put out a car to celebrate the company’s heritage and racing past. The Ford GT is truly an American supercar, with its sharp looks, a 5.4 liter supercharged V8 engine, and a six-speed manual transmission. The car’s condition is virtually new, as it was driven for less than 13 miles after purchased new, hence its listed price is between $300,000 and $400,000.

1965 Shelby 289 Cobra

RM Auctions/Sam Pack Collection

Shelby vehicles rocked the auto racing world in the 60’s, taking on established winners like Porsche and Mercedes. This 1965 prototype is a one of a kind, not only because of its powerful V8, capable of producing 525 horsepower, but because of its unique alloy body. This Shelby has been preserved in like-new condition and it only shows 56 miles on its odometer. This is one of several Shelbys being auctioned, including a 1967 427 Shelby Cobra, a 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 H Race Car, and a 1963 Shelby 289 Cobra.

2002 Lincoln Continental Concept

RM Auctions/Sam Pack Collection

Back in 2002 Ford had ambitious plans for its Lincoln brand. The Lincoln Continental prototype was designed to maximize space and comfort and easy access to the vehicle. A low body, large doors and a powerful V12 engine were supposed to make this the one Lincoln to own, but the vehicle never got green light for production. This prototype is non-functional and it was only meant for display.
