Why You Need a Ford Raptor

June 15, 2018 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

By now, you’ve probably heard all about Ford Raptor. For anyone looking for a truck that will be extremely impressive off-roading, the 2019 F-150 Raptor is the truck for them. Ford recently announced they are making updates to the F-150 Raptor that will make it run better once it’s off the pavement. The biggest update is the switch to the new Fox Racing Shox real-time adaptive shock absorbers.

Ford engineers are using Live Valve technology for the shock absorbers, so they use the Raptor’s terrain management system and real-time information to adjust compression rates and improve the Raptor’s ride. This causes the Raptor to detect when it is in mid-air and it fully stiffens the shock absorber to reduce the risk of bottoming out on landing.

Also added to the Raptor was a low-speed off-cruise control called Trail Control. Similar to Toyota’s Crawl control, the system modulates power and braking automatically, so the driver can focus on steering.

They are planning on making any major exterior cosmetic changes, but they are having a new wheel design and adding three new paint colors to the rear graphics, Ford Performance Blue, Velocity Blue, and Agate Black. In the interior, they are adding Raptor-specific Recaro performance seats with inserts and stitching inspired by Ford’s GT supercar.

The 2019 Raptor goes on sale in late 2018 with all its new gear. Ford is planning changes for many of their cars as they try to be conscious of what the American people want. By 2020, nearly 90% of Ford’s North American lineup will be trucks, SUV’s, and commercial vehicles.

Extreme Off-Road Performance: The New Ford Raptor | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

January 19, 2015 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Ford’s truck designed for off-road competition, the Raptor, will celebrate 2016 with an all-around updated version. Thanks to new improvements to the 2015 F-150, Ford is now calling Raptor the toughest, smartest, most capable truck. Let’s see what the new off-road beast has to offer.

Extreme Off-Road Performance: The New Ford Raptor | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

It all starts with the new frame, which features more high-strength steel than its F-150 siblings. Thanks to the new aluminum alloy, not only is the new Raptor stronger, but is also 500 pounds lighter. In today’s off-road competitions, any weight reduction translates into more speed, power, and fuel efficiency. For improved stability, the 2016 Ford Raptor is 6 inches wider than F-150 and features 17-in all-terrain next-generation wheels and tires.

The current Raptor is powered by a 6.2-liter V8, which produces 411 horsepower and 434 lb. of torque. The new-generation Raptor will use a high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost  –an efficient V6 engine paired to a 10-speed transmission.

The 2015 Raptor offers a new technology called Terrain Management system, which allows drivers to optimize driving dynamics. The system controls powertrain, driveline, ABS and stability control and comes with six different presets for different driving conditions:

  • Normal mode for casual, everyday driving
  • Weather mode for snow, rice, rain and low traction conditions
  • Street mode for high-performance, on-road driving
  • Mud and sand mode for off-road sandy hills and loose terrain
  • Baja mode for high-speed off-road racing
  • Rock mode for rock crawling

The new Raptor is also bringing improvements to stability and suspension. An available Torsen front differential allows the Raptor to pull itself over big obstacles by increasing the grip of the front tires. Also, the new truck comes standard with FOX Racing Shox, which work to stiffen and damp the suspension over off-road terrain. Shock canisters are now half an inch bigger and feature more suspension travel.

The 2016 Raptor is not only more powerful and capable, is also more comfortable. The interior gets some upgrades, like new auxiliary switches and paddle shifters to control the 10-speed transmission.

What do you think about Ford’s latest performance truck? Is it Baja 1000 material? We think it is. Check out our current inventory here or stop by the dealership today.

A Look at the Different Ford F150 Models | New Orleans

February 27, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

With February and March being Ford Truck Month, it’s as good a time as any to know about the many different types of F-150 trucks available. While we all wait excitedly for the new 2015 Ford F-150 to arrive, there are many great options for the 2014 F-150 that can meet the needs of any truck enthusiasts. But if you’ve ever set foot on a Ford car dealership, you know that with all the different types of F-150s available it can be difficult to know which one is for you. While the 2014 F-150 comes in 10 different model types, here’s a look at some of the more popular types of F-150 trucks available.

Lamarque Ford 2014 F150

F-150 XL

The XL is the base model, and is also the most affordable. It comes with options for regular cab, super cab, or supercrew; 5.5in, 6.5in, or 8in box; and V6, V8, or Ford Ecoboost V6 engine. While it doesn’t come with many of the nice interior or exterior features that some of the more expensive models have, it has many optional add-ons such as a rear view camera or steering mounted controls. It’s simply a more stripped down, no-frills version of the F-150.

F-150 XLT

Similar to the F-150 XL, the XLT has all of the same options for cabs and boxes, but also has the additional option of the more powerful 6.2L V8 engine. The XLT also comes with its own optional convenience package or plus package, and comes standard with Ford’s Power Equipment Group. It also comes standard with SecuriCode keypad on the driver’s side, electronic 6-speed transmission with tow/haul mode, Ford SYNC, and chrome grille and chrome surround.

F-150 King Ranch

The King Ranch is a significant step up from the XL and XLT. While it is more expensive, it offers many additional features not found in more inexpensive models. The King Ranch comes only with the supercrew cab, and is available with the Ford Ecoboost engine or 5.0L V8. It also comes standard with the Trailer Tow package, leather bucket seats, and Dual Zone Electronic Automated Temperature Control.  The 18”, all-season tires that come equipped on the King Ranch make it well suited for those who need a powerful truck for working hard.

F-150 SVT Raptor

The Raptor is among the more powerful F-150 trucks available. Equipped standard with a 6.2L V8 engine, the SVT features a smaller size truck with a 5.5in box and either the super cab or supercrew. The SVT Raptor highlights high performance with tow/haul mode, hill descent/off-road mode, and Fox Racing Shox. It also has the optional 801A Entertainment package which includes the Raptor luxury package and Navigation System, including Sirius XM radio and Travel Link.
