Expedition

The first Ford Expeditions rolled off the Michigan Truck Plant assembly line in 1997. In that year, SUV customers bought up more than 214,000 of them. The Expedition was progressive both regarding its design and its efficient modular Triton V8 powertrains. The handsome new Expedition follows the trend set by the Ford F-150. It has ten times the sealant that’s found in the old one and promises to be far quieter on the road. Beneath the metal is an upgraded version of the fully boxed framed used in the F-150. The Expedition is available in two-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and four-wheel drive with a low range-equipped transfer case. For the first time, Ford now offers an FX4 off-road package in the XLT-trim expedition. For $1,650, you get specifically tuned dampers from Hitachi, skid plates, a heavy duty radiator, 18-inch all-terrain tires and an electronic limited-slip rear differential with fully locking function. The technology inside this beautiful SUB rivals the Lincoln Navigator with heated and cooled multi-contour leather seats, inductive phone charging, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision assist and pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and a dual headrest-mounted entertainment system with 8-inch screens.

Bronco

The 2018 Ford Bronco will use the same platform as the ongoing Ranger. The body on frame design, the solid rear axle, the rather basic suspension system as well as the ruggedness of the Raptor will be carried over, likely with minimal changes, to the Bronco. Unlike most other family crossovers out there, the 2018 Ford Bronco will not be soft and cushy. Instead, the car is expected to borrow some of the traits of the Wrangler. This means it will be built with off-road driving in mind. Expect it to have a soft and compliant suspension but with a rugged interior which will resist wear and tear much better than your regular crossover. On top of that, some models are expected to get dirt-resistant upholstery, waterproof instruments as well as auxiliary buttons and other improvements meant to make it a better off-road machine.The US 2018 Ford Bronco has been rumored to receive more interesting engines than the Ranger. For starters, it is expected to get a 2 or 2.3 liters turbocharged inline four as its base. This should develop over 250 horsepower and as much as 300 lb-ft of torque. With the new Ford GT and SVT Raptor, Ford lovers around the world are rejoicing, but the most exciting announcement for off-roaders is the welcoming of the new Ford Bronco. A renegotiated contract between Ford and the United Auto Workers moved Focus and C-Max production out of their current plans and brought the Ranger and Bronco back in. After years of teasers, Ford’s president of the Americas Joe Hinrichs and Vice President of Global Development officially confirmed at the 2017 North American International Auto Show that the Bronco is officially coming back. The midsize Ranger pickup has been out of the company’s American lineup since 2012, and the Bronco has been missed since it was discontinued in 1996. This was because of the SUV demand going significantly down because of gas prices.

The new Ford Bronco will be like the Ford Everest because it shares its frames and will be an off-roader, but thankfully, Ford understands the new Bronco needs to live up to its name. Unlike old models, it will have four doors, and Ford is looking to position the Bronco against the Jeep Wrangler unlimited. This means that the SUB will be able to tackle harsh terrain right out of the showroom. Traditionally the Ford Bronco will be ready to go topless and will have an air roof with up to six removable panels that can be stored in the truck.

The new Ford Bronco won’t have a V8 like the F-150 but will have a V6 that produces 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet. July 27th, 2017 was an extraordinary day for Ford: The 100th birthday of the cherished F-150! Ford’s F-150 is the best-selling vehicle in the country and the best-selling pickup for the last four decades. There are a lot of attributes about the F-150 that makes it so unique and a best-selling truck, and what better way to celebrate it’s 100th birthday than to brag about them a little?

The very first truck was built in 1917 and was named the Ford Model TT because it was based on the Model T. During that time, not many trucks could do what this truck could do. It had the cargo capacity of a ton, which was no small feat for that year.

The F-150s grew out of the F-series of Ford trucks that we started building in 1948. The F-series truck was initially aimed at blue-collar workers such as contractors or farmers and was known as the Ford Bonus Built truck. Ford built the trucks on a dedicated platform, unlike earlier versions that were built from car chassis developed during the war.

There were several modernizations including smoother body contours, integrated headlights, a bigger cab and a one-piece windshield. The F-Series continued through 1952 with some cosmetic changes such as different grille inserts and a major selling point: a waterproof ignition to improve performance and durability.

By 1953, the truck had a much sleeker look with the hood flowing into the grille and front fenders. The consumer-oriented pickups were now called the F-100, F-250 and the heavy duty version was named the F-350. Until 1954, the amount of horsepower increased from 95 to as much as 173.

By 1975, the F-150 model was introduced to split the difference in payload capacity between the F-100 and the F-250. It quickly claimed a third of F-series sales. By 1978, the appearance of the F-series changed the most it had since 1972, when the split grille was overhauled in favor of a single-piece grille insert design.

The F-150 model was always evolving to fit the needs of the people who drove it, and the market quickly began broadening. Along with the improvements in strength, power, and durability, the F-150 also became more versatile. There are now five models from XL to Platinum, each with several options for the cab, box, and engine.

As the F-150 became not only a work truck but also a family truck, the interiors began to evolve. By the 1980’s, the interior of an F-150 started to undergo significant upgrades. The interior of an F-150 is now just as comfortable as the inside of a sedan. The back seat is bigger than the booth at your favorite diner, and you can even have leather massage seats and a dual panel moonroof.

When it comes to trucks in 2017, a common concern is the gas mileage. The F-150 now has the mileage to compete with any model truck on the market. The current base model is rated at 19 mpg (city) and 26 mpg (highway) beating out all of its competitors.

With the history of continual upgrades and improvements, Ford has given the F-150, the brand is sure to last another 100 years! A few years ago, the Ford Motor Company unveiled a new branding campaign using the phrase “Go Further” with the promise of a better Ford. News of the charitable achievements came from the 17th-annual Salute to Dealers Awards held at the 2017 National Automobile Dealers Association Convention and Expo in New Orleans earlier this year. Ford II, chairman of the Salute to Dealers Awards program and member of the Ford Board of Directors, said “I am continually amazed by the selfless efforts of our honorees and nominees who choose to make a difference in people’s lives every day.”

Among the charitable causes, children’s services topped the list with sixty-nine percent of dealers donating to children’s causes, followed by sixty-two percent of dealers giving to education and scholarship funds. Additional charity services included fifty-six percent of dealers giving to veteran causes and forty-six percent donating to first-responder efforts. Various Ford dealerships have donated to a variety of community needs, but the company has proven that Ford dealers are willing to go above and beyond for their communities.
