Ford’s New Pre-Collision Warning System | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

October 16, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

For years, Ford has been at the forefront of the development of new vehicle safety technologies, so much it even sells its own to other manufacturers. But Ford is not stopping there. The company just announced a new system to help avoid and even eliminate front collisions with other vehicles and pedestrians. The system is called pre-collision warning system and will be introduced in Europe next year on the 2015 Mondeo.

pre-collision warning lamarque ford new orleans

Here’s how it works. The system constantly scans the road ahead using radars and cameras, then adds other inputs like speed and inclination. Once the system has detected an object ahead, it first warns the driver to take action, then takes over and can apply the brakes up to a full stop if necessary. Ford’s pre-collision warning system gains its ability to recognize objects from a database created from real-life testing. Ford safety engineering team covered over 300,000 miles of roads to ensure the system worked flawlessly, and it does.

With the all-new pre-collision warning system , Ford is adding an extra camera nested in the windshield next to the rear-view mirror, allowing for a better viewing angle. However, the system does have some limitations and does not replace driver input. Since the system is fairly new, the cameras have a harder time detecting objects at night or under certain weather conditions.

Although the system is scheduled to be released in only one model next year, the potential for this technology is unlimited. Ford already enjoys a conformable position amongst manufacturers in terms of new safety technology. Ford’s Driver Assist package, which is available in all of their upcoming models, greatly increases customer’s choices in this area. Driver Assist bundles cutting edge improvements like BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning with lane-keeping assist, auto-dimming beams and rain-sensing wiper blades.

Stop by Lamarque Ford to check out the new safety features in our Fords, and to test drive American favorites like the F-150, Ford Taurus and 2015 Mustang.

Meet The New 2015 Ford Focus | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

October 10, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Since its introduction in 1998, Ford Focus has turned the compact car market into a competitive and innovative segment where new technologies are born and the newest designs are showcased. For 2015, Ford is introducing the most significant upgrade to Focus since 2012, bringing new design, technology and performance features.

2015 Ford Focus Review Lamarque Ford New Orleans

2015 Ford Focus Design

Back in 2012, Focus was Ford’s first model to join the company’s global initiative, which is aimed at creating a more cohesive global brand with the same product shipped around the globe. Today, Ford has accomplished just that, and the new 2015 Focus is a testament to the global design guidelines.

The new look takes big clues from European models, thanks in part to Ford’s acquisition of Aston Martin and its design team. A redesigned grille gives Focus a more modern and aggressive look, while retaining an elegant profile, with subtle lines flowing back to the rear end. A new appearance package, SE, is now available, as well as new wheels, in sizes varying from 15 to 18 inches.

All-New Focus Technology Improvements

As part of its interior redesign, the 2015 Focus gains new gadgets that make driving a better experience. The most noticeable new feature is its standard rear-view camera, which lets you get a better look when slowly backing up. The center console, also redesigned, houses SYNC and available MyFord Touch for the best hands-free communication experience.

As part of the driver-assist package, the 2015 Ford Focus now includes BLIS, an intelligent system that alerts the driver for oncoming traffic. BLIS uses radars around Focus to detect approaching vehicles on either side, and is now available in most Ford vehicles.

2015 Ford Focus Performance

Focus has expanded its line-up to meet every driver’s expectations. From the standard 2.0 to the Focus Electric, consumers will enjoy riding in a 2015 Focus. The most talked about engine is Ford’s EcoBoost, which combines an effective smaller engine with turbo-chargers, allowing for increased performance and lower emissions and fuel consumption. The 2015 Ford Focus gets its own EcoBoost engine, which uses an efficient 1-liter 3-cylinder engine without compromising power.

Performance enthusiasts will welcome the all-new Focus ST, which packs a turbo-charged 2.0 engine, a six-speed transmission and a new sports tuned suspension.

Stop by Lamarque Ford today to test drive the new 2015 Focus and to check out our great deals and specials.

Ford At The 2014 Paris Auto Show | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

October 8, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

As Ford details and expands its European line up, the company is having an exciting month with a host of redesigned and refreshed models debuted in 2014 Paris Motor Show.  This event is perhaps one of the largest and most prominent of the automotive 2014 calendar year.  In a sea of advanced production and new concept vehicles, the all new Ford S MAX was shown alongside the redesigned C MAX and Grand C MAX as well as the brand-new Ford Mustang.  The show also unveiled Ford’s new Focus ST and Focus ST Diesel, and Ford’s all new Edge, the company’s leading innovative design in Ford SUV selection.

Ford Paris Motoro Show Lamarque New Orleans C Max

Ford’s S MAX had already earned the prestige of being one of the most excellent multi-purpose vehicles on the market, and with the car’s fresh renovation, Ford plans to take that reputation one step higher.  The esteemed family friendly vehicle has been on the market for nearly a decade, with a mini facelift in 2009.  Now the Ford S MAX exciting makeover has added practicality, safety and technology to a model that has stayed relatively the same size with the same exceptional fuel efficiency.  It is not yet determined if this model will be made available in the United States.

The Ford C MAX will be available globally, but not until late 2016.  Updates to the C-MAX include design and internal material changes as well as two different engine choices: a 1.5 liter EcoBoost and a 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel.  The vehicle will also be quieter than before due to a change in sound silencing acoustic components and thicker glass.

The 2015 Ford Mustang is coming to showrooms here, and the unveiling of it at the 2014 Paris Motor Show was the first time European public had ever seen the make and model.  The revered breed is now in it’s sixth generation and for the first time ever Ford makers have added independent rear suspension, making this the models first extensive revamp in a decade.  Ford has also reworked the Mustangs front suspension, and included electrically assisted steering and a new muscular sub frame, making for a smooth and secure and exciting joyride. The European lineups are packed with a 5.0L V8 and a new 2.3L Ecoboost 4 cylinder.  We are looking forward more than ever 2015.  It’s going to be a big year for us here and overseas.

2015 Ford Expedition King Ranch | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

October 6, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Although Ford hasn’t updated the Expedition’s body in eight years, the 2015 model offers the best updates seen in a while. It also stacks up well against more modern competitors like Chevy Tahoe, Suburban and Escalade. So what’s in store for the top-notch 2015 Ford Expedition King Ranch? And why is it still such a popular option? Let’s find out.

2015 expedition king ranch new orleans

Same Body, New EcoBoost Engine

Back in 2000, Ford introduced a heavy-duty, full-size SUV called Excursion, which had bold looks, a wide array of gas (and diesel) thirsty engines, and a giant body (it was known for being the largest and heaviest pick up truck in the planet) . Although consumers loved the Excursion, Ford retired the name plate five short years later to focus on its heavy-duty pick-up trucks. Since, consumers have turned to larger versions of Ford Expedition, like the King Ranch EL, which still offer a similar heavy-duty look and the comfort and space the manufacturer once offered.

Today, gone are the standard V8 and V10 engines with displacements of up to 7.3 liters for the diesel versions. With the new EcoBoost technology, Ford is able to drive a 6,000 lb SUV with a V6 3.5 liter engine. That’s right, the 2015 Expedition outperforms  V8 Tahoes and Suburbans alike with its 365 horsepower output and 21 highway mpgs. So while Chevy and GM SUVs have changed dramatically on the outside, Ford Expedition gained new guts.

2015 Expedition King Ranch Features

King Ranch models have long been known for its brown accents, both on the interior and exterior. The 2015 Expedition is no different, and features perforated leather-trimmed, heated/cooled seats, King Ranch mandatory embroidery, rear-view camera and SYNC with MyFord Touch. For customers missing the old Excursion, these are more than welcome changes, as they add to the superior comfort and refined taste only the King Ranch offers.

The exterior’s most noticeable changes are the front grille and redesigned bumper, which match heavy duty Fords.  The company also offers 22-in wheels, updated headlights and tail lamps, and other minor upgrades like a chrome trim. Although the exterior hasn’t been revised in a few years, the Expedition EL comes with a better towing package than that of a Suburban, allowing it to tow up to 9,000 pounds.

In all, the 2015 King Ranch Expedition is still a solid large SUV contender thanks to its new EcoBoost engine. Let’s hope Ford brings the imminent exterior redesign sooner than later.

2015 Ford Mustang GT Hennessey: 717 HP | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

October 2, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Earlier this year we learned Dodge was readying up a 707 horsepower Challenger Hell Cat, which to be fair, is an extremely powerful muscle car. However, Ford and the Hennessey Racing team thought they could one-up them, or better yet, ten-up them, by introducing a 717 horsepower 2015 Mustang. Meet the team behind the new upgraded pony car and how they did it.

The Hennessey Team

Hennessey Performance is a Texas based tuning shop that specializes in making fast cars, well, faster. Over the last two decades, Hennessey has modified cars from all manufacturers including Ferraris, McLarens, Lamborghinis and of course, Fords. The shop uses a 37,000 square foot facility to turn 450 horsepower sports cars into 1200 horsepower speed demons. So naturally, after seeing the upgrades in the Challenger Hell Cat, Ford Mustang fans demanded a formidable competitor.

2015 Mustang Performance Upgrades

It all starts with a 2015 Ford Mustang GT, which comes standard with a massive 5.0 V8 engine and outputs 435 horsepower. Crucial to the power boost is a 2.9 liter supercharger and an upgraded exhaust system, which allow for a mind-blowing 632 pounds of torque. Top it off with updated injectors, a new fuel pump and and HPE air induction system for cooling, and you have yourself an HPE700 Mustang. A fully upgraded Hennessey Mustang can dash from 0 to 60 in only 3.6 seconds and reach 131 mph in a quarter mile in only 11.2 seconds.

Hennessey will be producing only 500 units and each one includes badging, serial numbers and other appearance upgrades. Ford Mustang customers can also choose to update to Hennessey wheels and carbon fiber side sills and spoilers.

The Mustang Brand Superiority

It is increasingly important for the Mustang brand to stay relevant and powerful, as it is Ford’s flagship vehicle. With this new model, Mustang once again claims its superiority both in performance and looks, offering Ford customers an incredible line-up with the V6 Fastback, to the 2.3 EcoBoost, the V8 GT and now the 717 horsepower Hennessey. The 2015 Ford Mustang will be available by the end of the year at Lamarque Ford, so stop by or visit our website today.

2015 Ford C-Max Facelift | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

September 29, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

The Paris Motor Show is underway and car manufacturers are ready to show off their latest updates. Ford is introducing the re-designed 2015 C-Max minivan in Europe, hoping to bring the new model to the U.S. later this year. Ford has produced the C-Max since 2003 for the European car market and introduced it in the U.S. in 2012. C-Max has proven to be a success since it attracts environmentally conscious minivan customers as it makes the perfect platform for hybrid and diesel models.

2015-Ford-C-Max Lamarque Ford New Orleans

The new version introduces C-Max to Ford’s global design language, with the all-familiar grille and front fascia. The 2015 C-Max also gets upgraded ergonomics and a cabin redesign, including a cleaner and more minimalistic center console. For 2015, Ford got rid excess buttons and incorporates MyFord Touch display, which saves space and makes your Ford easier to use than ever.

The 2015 C-Max also addresses noise and stability updates, which make the new vehicle a pleasure to drive. Ford is also including the company’s latest technology, which features cross-traffic alert, park-out assist, and adaptive cruise control.

The European C-Max is introducing a turbo diesel engine, which promises to deliver 120 horsepower in its 1.5 liter version. Ford is also carrying over the 2.0 turbo diesel and 1.0 three-cylinder EcoBoost, as they offer great efficiency without sacrificing power.

Additionally, the 2015 model comes in a larger version, Grand C-Max. The Grand C-Max seats up to seven passengers and includes all the revisions the smaller model gets. There has been rumors about Ford bringing both versions to the U.S., which will make a nice addition to the small minivan market.

Buying a New Car? Here Are Some Tips | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

September 25, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Buying a new car can make for a nerve racking and mentally draining experience, especially if you don’t know what you are looking for. Often people start with only a price range, but that is really only the tip of the iceberg. When it comes to spending big money on a new car, follow these steps to make the best out of your investment.

buy a new car new orleans lamarque ford

Get Organized

When looking for a new car, writing down your thoughts can help organize your ideas.  Educated purchase decisions become vital, so make sure to do your research.  The first step to your purchase is to start with personal allowances.  Allow yourself ample time and make sure you are thinking clearly with your head instead of making emotional verdicts.  Split decisions when purchasing a car can lead to heartache and costly repairs.  Approach every dealership with hope, but allow yourself the ability to walk away.  It is good to compare and stack up the competition but it  also lets the dealer know you are not desperate.

Do The Research

After you have taken the vow of patience, it is time for the nitty gritty, yet, essential chunk of the operation.  Luckily, most of the research can be performed from the comfort of your own home.  One of the most important factors in the equation is really knowing the value of your trade in.  Do not let the dealership determine this for you.  There are many resources online or off, Carmax or Kelly Blue Book are just a couple of examples.  Begin your search by emailing various dealerships with a list of what you are looking for.  This will help you conserve energy when it comes to the actual footwork,a s it will help you grasp a better idea of what you’re looking for.  And before you even go in, make sure you are financed.  Often times your bank will offer you a better interest loan than the dealership’s bank and knowing ahead how much money is available to you makes for a much smoother process.

 Test Drive

Once you are ready to start meeting your potential next new car, take full advantage of the test drive.  Test drives are a privilege that can really help you get a feel from a particular vehicle.  Enjoy it.  Use that filled gas tank and explore the city.  A prolonged test drive is recommended so you can really get a feel for that acceleration, braking, throttle, engine noises, smells, gas mileage, working accessories, etc. Take your time.

 Safety First

When choosing a vehicle and its equipment, much of it boils down to personal needs and opinions.  Safety, however,  should still be one of your top concerns.  Look for built in front and side air bags, an alarm system, anti lock brakes, an anti-skid system and power locks. Navigation system is also a nice addition, making it easier to follow directions and look up information without having to access a separate unit.

Read The Fine Print

Once your selection has been made, research it.  Do your homework and know how much you should pay and where you might find a better local deal.  Make sure to get an itemized list from each prospective dealer that includes the vehicle sale price, tax, title and tags, as well as the vehicle’s specific vin number.  By doing this you can really compare finalized notes and numbers.  When you do finally sign that paperwork, make sure to read all the fine print.

2015 Taurus SHO Specs | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

September 24, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

For years, Ford has released an SHO version of the Taurus, which is a top-of-the-line performance and technology trim. The 2015 SHO Taurus is an amazing example of a fully equipped full size sedan, with a powerful engine, a sporty feel and an executive interior. Here’s a look at the best features the SHO model’s got to offer.

Lamarque Ford New Orleans 2015 Taurus SHO

Taurus Design

Ford is calling the all-new Taurus a perfect combination of looks and performance. Bold lines and a sporty stance make the Taurus SHO look menacing yet refined, and the exclusive Piano Black front grille adds a final touch of sophistication. The front, coupled with HID headlamps and a dropped down fascia showcase Ford design at its best. Down the sides, the lean and agile body opens up to fit giant 20 in machined aluminum wheels with painted pockets that compliment the black contrast across the Taurus.

The 2015 Taurus SHO offers an exclusive interior with two seat options: leather-trimmed seats with Miko suede inserts or all-black leather embroidered with the SHO logo. Both options are eligible for Multi-Contour seats with lumbar massage.

SHO Performance

SHO stands for Super High Output, and Ford made sure this Taurus lives up to its name. It all starts with a direct injection turbo-charged V6, which produces an incredible 365 horsepower, more than the V6 and EcoBoost Mustangs. The SHO is then coupled with AWD, which allows for fast acceleration and best traction in all situations. The standard AWD constantly monitors tire traction and distributes power where is needed.

To improve stability and handling, Ford added a sports-tuned suspension to the Taurus SHO. The new system includes redesigned shock absorbers and a multi-link rear suspension for better dynamic control.

Best Technology Package

The 2015 SHO Taurus gets tech updates in almost every area. The transmission is upgraded to a six-speed SelectShift automatic, which includes shift paddles and a sport mode setting. The exterior also gains standard HID headlamps and LED tail lights. Inside, Taurus SHO gets dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, power-adjustable pedals, MyKey, remote keyless entry, integrated remote start and a rear-view camera.

For 2015, Ford Taurus’ entertainment system comes standards with SiriusXM Satellite Radio, CD player with mp3 capability and am/fm radio. The main console is equipped with MyFord Touch, and 8 in. LCD touch display for easy access to music and other controls, and SYNC, Ford’s own voice-activated command system.

2015 Mustang Performance | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

September 22, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

With the all-new 2015 Mustang scheduled to hit dealerships in December, the final specs are rolling in. Several car magazines have done their own tests and they all agree on one thing: the new Mustang is awesome! The 2015 Mustang comes in three engine configurations: a 3.7 liter V6 , a 4-cylinder turbo-charged Ecoboost, and a 5.0 GT.

Lamarque Ford New Orleans Metairie celebrating Mustang's 50th anniversary

The standard entry level engine is a 3.7 V6, and it was the first to introduce twin Ti-VCT technology to the Mustang lineup. The V6 produces 300 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft of torque, which ensure a fun ride. However, the best features are its standard equipment, which for 2015 include an independent-rear suspension, 17″ aluminum wheels, HID headlamps with signature lighting, dual exhaust, LED tail lamps, leather-wrapped steering wheel and hand brake, and more. The V6 is definitely a great options for first time sports car buyers.

Next comes the four-cylinder EcoBoost, which produces more power and torque than the V6 while getting better gas mileage. The 2.3 is Mustang’s first EcoBoost as it now joins the rest of the Ford family. EcoBoost engines are designed to perform better than bigger legacy engines while reducing emissions. Thanks to its twin turbo-chargers and a new exhaust system, the EcoBoost Mustang hopes to be the most popular model.

Finally, we meet the powerful 5.0 V8. This GT model tops at 435 horsepower and 400 lb. of torque, thanks to improvements like a new intake manifold. The GT’s performance package includes 19 in wheels, a larger radiator, Brembo brakes, and updated suspension for better stability.

Remember to stop by Lamarque Ford and test drive the all-new Mustang next month.

Ford’s Driver Assist: Ford F-150 | Lamarque Ford | New Orleans

September 17, 2014 By Matthew Hritz Leave a Comment

Ford has always found ways to bring the best driving experience to their vehicles, and 2015 will be no different. As part of their effort to bring meaningful changes to the automotive market, Ford is delivering Driver Assist package to F-150. Driver Assist, already present on many Ford models, is an interplay of sensors, cameras and computers that make driving safer than ever. Here are the ten most amazing features of Ford’s safety system.

ford driver assist f150 lamarque ford new orleans

Active Park Assist

Park Assist allows drivers to parallel park with no effort and is especially helpful when driving a large vehicle like the F-150. To achieve this, the system uses two ultrasonic sensors to measure the prospective parking spot, then determines the steering angles so the user can accelerate or break when needed.

Blind Spot Information System

Also known as BLIS, this system uses radar sensors to determine if on-coming traffic is on adjacent lanes. Located on the head-lamps, these sensors send signals to the rearview mirrors’ lights to alert the driver if a moving object is on their blind spot. Additionally, these sensors can detect moving objects when a driver is slowly backing up.

360 Degree Camera

Thanks to a set of four exterior cameras in the F-150, the Driver Assist package brings a birds-eye view of the vehicle right on your center console. That’s right, the system creates a virtual plane where Ford customers can see the top of their truck and any objects surrounding it. Getting out of a tight spot? We’ve got you covered.

Collision Warning And Cruise Control

This system measures the speed and distance of objects ahead of the vehicle, and automatically decreases speed, brakes, or alerts the driver when needed. It also works in concert with the cruise control to maintain adequate distances.

Curve Control

Curve Control was developed by Ford engineers to reduce the likeliness of turn-related accidents, which are more prone in trucks. The system works by measuring speed, steering and curve angle, and can reduce torque and apply breaks when it finds it necessary. Ford’s Curve Control can reduce a vehicle’s speed by up to 10 MPH in one second.

 Smart Trailer Module

The 2015 F-150 Driver Assist package includes a system that notifies drivers when trailer lights aren’t working. This can potentially avoid citations and extra actions from drivers to replace light bulbs.

Multi-Contour Seats

Ford is calling these available seats the “antidote to a hard day on the job site.” The multi-contour massaging seats are available in the 2015 F-150’s Driver Assist package.

Lane-Keeping System

A small camera located between the windshield and rearview mirror constantly monitors the road and its lane markers. If the system detects lane changing, the driver is alerted by visual and audible signals, and can even use steering torque to correct the problem.

 Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Although tire pressure monitoring is required in all vehicles by the NHTSA, Ford goes a step further and includes an individual tire monitor, which allows drivers to easily spot the pneumatic in need of air.

Hill Descent Control

This new technology builds on anti-lock brakes and assists the driver by slowing down the truck at a set speed, making safety and comfort a priority.
