Happy Earth Day, WANNA BUY A HUGE TRUCK…?

Just a little dealership humor but in all seriousness, the time has come to address the eco-automotive wave sweeping the nation… and the world… or at least, WAS sweeping.
Turns out that as of 2015, hybrid sales are in significant decline. What’s more, people are actually TRADING IN their green wheels FOR SUV’s!
It goes without saying that we love and want to preserve the environment and it’s inhabitants’ health and longevity…. HOWEVER, as a purveyor of fuel-powered vehicles, I’d be lying if I said this didn’t make me smirk a little bit… despite Kelley Blue Book listing the Ford C-Max Hybrid as one of the Top 10 Green Cars of 2014!

The report does point out however that while those who are hip to Hybrid-having are now whistling a different tune and trading “trees for trucks,” (think of going from pan flutes to rock & roll) it might end up hurting their finances in the long run. As we all know, saving the world isn’t exactly cheap – in other words, those cars are pretty pricey and measuring the return on your investment isn’t readily do-able. Factoring that plus the fact that gas is so low right now, drivers are feeling like it’s kind of a no-brainer… but do they really think that gas prices are going to remain this low?

It’s all a big gamble and a major investment either way you look at it: Save The Planet, Drain Your Savings… OR… Count Your Savings, Count The Minutes We Have Left.

In closing, we’d like to remind everyone to be conscious and considerate of the planet and your fellow man.

Soul Fuel: Ford Does Food – Lamarque Ford – New Orleans, LA

Ford is famed for forging the unFORDgettable: The Mustang. The F-150. The Sandwich.
Yes, that’s right. These titans of industry have made a sandwich. Talk about FAST FOOD!

Congratulations FORD, you’ve mastered the art of deli meat arrangement.
This is a company whose daring and cutting-edge ingenuity knows no bounds, boldly going where no auto-maker has gone before – The Kitchen.

Sam Patel, a digital sculptor in Ford’s Dearborn design center, created this design for this design for a sandwich that borrows from the Ford GT’s interior design language

Okay, okay… It’s not what you think, they didn’t make an ACTUAL sandwich… just the prototype for one.
This week, The Milan Furniture Fair featured a Ford lounge showcasing non-automotive projects created specifically for the internationally renowned design show, giving their designers a great opportunity to showcase their range of talents.

The Ford designers created a sandwich, sailboat model, suitcase and more, using the GT as inspiration. Ford was the only automaker invited to participate in the show.

So what does this mean for we, the people? Well for now, the world will just have to wait with baited breath and rumbling stomaches as FORD scientists continue running highly classified sandwich tests, hoping to once again do the impossible… before the Russians.

Ford’s CEO: Stunning Lincoln Continental Concept – Lamarque Ford

One of the hottest cars unveiled at the New York International Auto Show last week was Ford Motor Company’s dramatic Lincoln Continental Concept. For now, the Continental is a “concept,” meaning it’s not officially set for production. But Ford officials at the show made no secret of the fact that they’ll be building something much like it, and soon.

The car is believed to be based on a stretched and widened version of the architecture that underpins the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, and the production version is expected to be all-wheel drive — but we don’t know that for sure yet.

However, it is known that China has a big role in Ford’s plans for its new luxury car. Ford introduced the Lincoln brand in the nation last fall, after finding that Chinese customers held the brand in exceptionally high regard. The designers of the Continental Concept took Chinese tastes into account as they put together the car.
It turns out that Chinese tastes and American tastes aren’t all that different. Ford expects the new Lincoln to find an American audience that is drawn to the brand’s new theme, “quiet luxury.”
